Aluminium profiles form the skeleton of every stretch ceiling. They support the membrane, determine the durability, geometry and installation options of the entire construction. Classification of stretch ceiling profiles

Stretch ceiling profiles are classified by several criteria: mounting method (wall, ceiling, no-drill), membrane fixing system (harpoon, clip), purpose (basic, LED, two-level, curtain rail) and manufacturer series. Below we discuss each category in detail.

Two naming systems coexist in the catalogue. In the CLASSIC and COMFORT series the number in the name (125, 170, 200, 130) is approximately the mass of one running metre of profile in grams (raw, unpainted) — not the profile height and not the distance between the ceiling and the slab. In the GAMMA and GK LINE IN series the number is the approximate width of the light line (slot) in millimetres.

Basic profiles — CLASSIC series

The CLASSIC series is a wall-mounted profile designed for standard stretch ceiling installation with PVC membrane in the harpoon system. Mounting is done by screwing the profile to the wall with wafer head screws.

CLASSIC profiles are all roughly 32 mm high — CLASSIC 125 and CLASSIC 200 have the same height and differ in wall thickness and stiffness, not in height. The stiffer the profile, the better it holds the membrane tension on long straight runs and in large rooms; the choice is made by the installer for the specific project. The shadow gap between membrane and wall in the CLASSIC series is 8 mm.

CLASSIC profiles are available in three colour variants: unpainted (natural aluminium), white RAL 9016 and black RAL 9005. Standard length is 2 m. The gap between the profile and the wall is concealed with a decorative trim insert.

Basic profiles — COMFORT series

The COMFORT series is an alternative to CLASSIC with a smaller cross-section, designed for rooms where mounting flexibility matters. COMFORT profiles require a PVC gasket in some variants.

Stiffness order: COMFORT 130 → COMFORT HARD → COMFORT 200. The COMFORT 100 and COMFORT 190 models have been withdrawn from the standard range (made to order, indicative price) and are not recommended as a standard choice.

Ceiling-mount profiles — SU variants

SU (ceiling-mount) variants are fixed directly to the structural ceiling rather than the wall. They are essential where walls cannot bear mounting loads: plasterboard partitions, glazed walls, heritage interiors. The distance between the stretch ceiling and the slab is set by the mounting type (SU profile to the slab, standard profile to the wall) and by the installation itself, not by the number in the profile name; the loss of room height is a few centimetres — the profile height plus the installer’s margin.

Shadow-gap profiles — DELTA series

The DELTA series creates a shadow gap between the membrane and the wall. Visual effect: the ceiling appears to float in mid-air, which is why these profiles are especially popular in modern minimalist interiors. The current profile for “floating” ceilings is DELTA NEO: matt black, 2 m long, approx. 225 g/lm, 38.9 mm high, packed in 40 m. The no-drill profile is DELTA BOX — glued to the wall and/or fixed to the ceiling with brackets. The earlier DELTA and DELTA-SU models have been withdrawn from the standard range (made to order, indicative price).

Multi-function profiles

The COMFORT BOX is a multi-function solution combining the role of mounting profile and decorative housing. No-drill installation (adhesive or brackets) allows fitting to surfaces that cannot tolerate mechanical interference: ceramic tiles, glass, natural stone.

LED lighting profiles

LED profiles combine membrane mounting with integrated lighting. The LED strip is installed in a dedicated channel within the profile, and a diffuser (opal cover) ensures uniform light distribution.

The number in the GAMMA name is the approximate width of the light line, not the width of the LED strip. The strip channel is much wider: approx. 17 mm in GAMMA 20 SLIM and GAMMA 20.F, approx. 31 mm in GAMMA 30 / 30 SLIM / 30 VERT (two strips fit side by side), approx. 45.6 mm in GAMMA 50 (up to three 12 mm strips). LED strips come in 8, 10 and 12 mm widths. Diffuser covers are available in opal and transparent versions. Note: GAMMA 10 is a separator (membrane divider), not a lighting profile — no LED strip is fitted in it.

Two-level profiles

Two-level profiles enable stretch ceilings at two different heights using a single profile. They are used to visually divide zones in a room (e.g. kitchen/dining), create recesses for perimeter lighting, or build geometric ceiling features.

Aluminium curtain rails

Aluminium curtain rail profiles are specialist profiles installed within the stretch ceiling that conceal the curtain track. Visual effect: curtains descend directly from the ceiling with no visible rail. Curtain rail profiles support single and multi-track systems.

Profiles for plasterboard constructions

Special profiles for plasterboard GK LINE IN 20 and GK LINE IN 30 are designed for recessing LED light lines into plasterboard ceilings and walls. The light slot is 20.1 mm and 34 mm wide respectively; length 2 m. The profile is installed in the gap between two adjacent boards, and the diffuser closes the opening flush with the ceiling surface. GK LINE IN 20 takes the same diffuser as GAMMA 20, so a light line can be carried from a stretch ceiling onto a plasterboard wall.

Material and finish

The profiles in the 2K-Trade catalogue (except the plastic COMFORT 170 NP) are made from aluminium, ensuring lightness, corrosion resistance and easy cutting and drilling. The standard finish is unpainted (natural) aluminium. Powder-coated versions in RAL 9016 (white) and RAL 9005 (black) are also available; a painted profile weighs slightly more than a raw one. Curved profiles are bent to specification on request.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard profile length? The standard length of 2K-Trade profiles is 2 m. Profiles can be butt-joined with connectors or cut to size with an aluminium saw.

Can a wall profile be mounted on the ceiling? No. Wall and ceiling (SU) profiles have different mounting-hole geometry. For ceiling mounting use dedicated SU variants.

How much room height does a profile take? The distance between the stretch ceiling and the slab is set by the mounting type (SU profiles fixed to the slab, standard profiles fixed to the wall) and by the installation itself, not by the number in the profile name. With a wall-mounted profile the height loss is a few centimetres: the profile height (approx. 3 cm) plus the installer’s margin. There is no single universal value — the installer selects the profile for the project.

Are GAMMA LED profiles compatible with all LED strips? GAMMA profiles accept LED strips 8, 10 and 12 mm wide; the channel is wider than the strip (approx. 17 mm in GAMMA 20 SLIM and 20.F, approx. 31 mm in GAMMA 30, approx. 45.6 mm in GAMMA 50). For higher-wattage strips we recommend the GAMMA 30 HP model with improved heat dissipation. GAMMA 10 is a separator and is not intended for LED strips.
