How to Choose a Stretch Ceiling Profile: Selection Guide
Profile selection guide for stretch ceilings: mounting method (wall or ceiling-mount SU profile),
06.04.2026 | Profiles for Stretch Ceilings
Aluminium profiles are the structural foundation of every stretch ceiling. They serve three functions: maintaining membrane tension (PVC or fabric), shaping the construction and enabling LED lighting integration. 2K-Trade, based in Łódź, Poland, offers over 30 types of aluminium profiles across six product categories. This article gives an overview of the available types, their parameters and the selection criteria for specific applications.

Stretch ceiling profiles are made of aluminium. The material properties behind this choice:

Basic profiles are the simplest and most commonly used mounting elements. They are fixed to the wall (wall profiles) or to the ceiling slab (SU — ceiling-mount variants). They are used for single-level stretch ceilings without LED lighting.
| Profile | Mount type | Weight (g/lm) | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| CLASSIC 125 | Wall | ~125 | Thinnest wall and lowest mass in the series; small and medium rooms |
| CLASSIC 170 | Wall | ~170 | Standard wall profile |
| CLASSIC HARD | Wall | ~170 | Reinforced version of intermediate rigidity |
| CLASSIC 200 | Wall | ~200 | Stiffest in the series; long straight runs and large surfaces |
| COMFORT 130 | Wall | ~130 | Light profile with a smaller cross-section (minimum wall thickness 0.9 mm) |
| COMFORT HARD | Wall | ~130 | Reinforced version (minimum wall thickness 1.2 mm) |
| COMFORT 200 | Wall | ~200 | Stiffest in the COMFORT series (minimum wall thickness 1.3 mm) |
| CLASSIC-SU 125 | Ceiling | ~125 | Fixed directly to the ceiling slab |
| COMFORT-SU 130 | Ceiling | ~130 | Ceiling mount (minimum wall thickness 0.9 mm) |
| DELTA NEO | Shadow gap | ~225 | Ceiling “floating” away from the wall; matt black, 38.9 mm high |
| DELTA BOX | No-drill | — | Glued to the wall and/or fixed to the ceiling with brackets; porcelain tiles, glass, decorative panels; 7.5 mm shadow gap |
The number in the CLASSIC and COMFORT names is the approximate mass of one running metre of raw profile in grams — not the profile height and not the distance between the ceiling and the slab: CLASSIC 125 and CLASSIC 200 have the same height of about 32 mm, COMFORT 130 about 31 mm. In the GAMMA and GK LINE IN series, by contrast, the number is the approximate width of the light line in millimetres. HARD versions are an intermediate grade of rigidity between the basic model and the stiffest one (200). The stiffer the profile, the better it holds the membrane tension on long straight runs and in large rooms — the choice is made by the installer for the specific project. The COMFORT 100, COMFORT 190, DELTA and DELTA-SU models have been withdrawn from the standard range (made to order, indicative price).
LED profiles have a channel for the LED strip and a slot for the diffuser (frosted or clear). The GAMMA series is the core line for creating light lines in stretch ceilings.
| Profile | Light line width | Diffuser | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| GAMMA 20 | approx. 20 mm | Frosted/clear | Narrow light lines |
| GAMMA 20F | approx. 20 mm | Frosted/clear | Reinforced version with thicker walls, screwed directly to the ceiling slab; long light lines and strongly tensioned membranes |
| GAMMA 30 | approx. 30 mm | Frosted/clear | Standard light lines |
| GAMMA 30 HP | approx. 30 mm | Frosted/clear | High Power version for higher-wattage strips |
| GAMMA 50 | approx. 50 mm | Frosted/clear | Wide lines, commercial spaces |
The strip channel is wider than the light line: approx. 17 mm in GAMMA 20 SLIM and GAMMA 20F, approx. 31 mm in GAMMA 30 / 30 SLIM / 30 VERT (two strips fit side by side), approx. 45.6 mm in GAMMA 50 (up to three 12 mm strips). LED strips come in 8, 10 and 12 mm widths. GAMMA 10 is a separator (membrane divider): it is used to split a large ceiling into zones or to create a minimal gap between two membranes, not to hold an LED strip.
Niche profiles create recesses and a shadow gap between the membrane and the wall or between two membranes. The visual effect: the ceiling appears to float in the air.
Two-level profiles allow a ceiling to be installed at two heights from a single element:
Profiles for non-standard applications:
Profile selection depends on five factors:
The 2K-Trade office and warehouse are located in Łódź, Poland. Installers from the Łódź region can collect their order in person, saving shipping time and cost. Technical advice is available on collection — you can discuss the project, check profile compatibility and see samples in person.
For customers elsewhere: courier shipping within 1–3 working days in Poland and usually 2–9 working days to other European countries. Aluminium profiles can be cut to size before shipping. The full profile catalogue with product cards is available online, and a detailed list of dimensions and weights can be found in the article Stretch Ceiling Profiles: Catalogue of Types, Dimensions and Applications.
Mounting the profiles is technically straightforward — it requires a drill, a spirit level and expansion anchors. Tensioning the PVC membrane, however, requires a gas heater and experience. Basic and GAMMA profiles can be installed by experienced fitters working on their own; two-level and curved constructions call for more practice.
For light lines: GAMMA 20, 30 or 50 profiles with a frosted diffuser. For perimeter lighting in a shadow gap: SIGMA-NEO LED. For a backlit two-level transition: DUAL DP. For plasterboard constructions: GK LINE IN 20 or 30.
In the CLASSIC and COMFORT series the number is the approximate mass of one running metre of raw profile in grams (CLASSIC 125 ≈ 125 g/lm), not the height and not the distance between the ceiling and the slab. In the GAMMA and GK LINE IN series the number is the approximate width of the light line in millimetres.
Yes. Orders can be collected at the company’s premises in Łódź or shipped by courier: 1–3 working days within Poland, usually 2–9 working days to other European countries. Profiles can be cut to size before collection or shipping.
Unit prices of the individual models are shown on the product cards in the online catalogue. 2K-Trade works in a B2B model — for larger orders your account manager prepares a quotation; enquiries can be sent via the contact form or by phone.
